About Me

I Started modeling clay animals and flowers about 15 years ago because I wanted a hobby.

All of my sculptures are One Off's there are no moulds of any sort used.

Every one of my creations has its own unique character and is designed to be my own interpretation of the animal in question and not just trying to copy nature.

Getting an original expression on the faces of my subjects is a lot of fun when it goes to plan but can also be frustrating when it doesn't go right first time.

Every firing of the kiln comes with anticipation and some trepidation as every one is an experiment in some way or another. Over the years the excitement of the kiln opening has not dulled nor has my love of the medium or the subjects. Finding new ways to get the effect I want on an animal always gives me great satisfaction.

As all of my subjects come from nature it is also where my inspiration comes from. Sometimes from photo's of animals but also from watching them in there natural environment near where we live. Which is on the south coast near Chichester in West Sussex.

There is nothing more satisfying than watching someone's face break into a smile when viewing my work  hence the saying.

 "made to make you smile"

I  have a good local company for my pottery supplies

The Clayman in Lagness near Pagham.
